Mount Olive Gas Company was founded in 1953 by Miriam (Ma Ma) Whitehurst and her daughter Helen Caveness. It is believed to be the first propane gas company in the nation to be founded solely by women. Mt. Olive Gas is currently operated by Helen’s son Joe Caveness, his wife Judy, and son Joseph. Fifth generation Joseph III (age 5) is in training!
