Originally a Massey-Harris Farm Equipment Dealership in 1911, General Motors was then introduced in 1921. As times progressed, the McCarthy Family worked in the logging sector as well with the pulp business. In 1980 a local Texaco fuel operation was purchased and still operates today as McCarthy Fuels. In addition to the McCarthy Fuels Division, McCarthy Propane was added in 2008 to better serve the Ottawa Valley with their heating needs.
